My dad is so in love with antique stuffs like irons, sewing machines, house phone and etc. Some of the items I guess us, the younger generations had never seen before. In fact, my dad doesn’t fancy those modern furnitures like the ones in Ikea. He said that’s the modern style of furnitures. He’d prefer those wooden types of furnitures, made of huge tree in the forest. And all the furnitures in my house are so wooden, that you can only find ONE sofa set in the second living room.
My uncles and aunties are all antiques fans. Each of their house definitely has an antique item and I have an aunt, who owns Mee Jawa, displayed her restaurant with antique items. Fuhh..
Last week my uncle suggested us to go Amcorp Mall and have a look at all the stalls selling antiques. My dad is venturing into this business for leisure as he gets those antiques from kampung kampung, sometimes in
My first time to Amcorp Mall..no idea how the shopping mall looks like until last Sunday when I went with the boyfriend and his mum. The boyfriend’s mum and I went to pick the boyf from coaching, and we had lunch at Sri Melaka inside Amcorp Mall. I kinda like the place coz it’s something like Sg Wang but it’s not that crowded.
Assam laksa
Nasi Lemak - hmm so so only!
Fried Rice
Otak-otak and popiah
We had lunch first before we go jalan.
Okay let's start with the antiques..
The first thing that caught my attention was the antique black disc! LOL most of us are using DVD or at least a VCD right, before that the HUGE black disc was invented and does this looks similar to the disc used by deejays in clubs?
This is the olden days "black disc player"..hehhee! The speaker is so damn huge and my uncle's house has one. My aunt played it once for us and the sound is horrible. I mean the black disc songs are horrible..it will gives u nightmare if you played it in the midnight.
Look at these old abacus! This is so old la..and it's rusty sumore. Antique lovers always find that rusty and dusty things are valuable. The older the better.
I love these antique irons, where you have to put charcoals in it and wait til the metal got heated. My dad has few and maybe one day i'll get some charcoals and try to iron with it! Hhahha..should be interesting!
Ooooo typewriter! I used before when I was young..cant remember how old but if I'm not mistaken I used it in makmal komputer (computer labs).
Telescope..
Whee..antique camera! I'm not sure if this is the antique DSLR..ahahha! I ask the man,"ini masih boleh pakai? (is this camera still working?)"
And he answered me,"terpulang pada nasib la (depends on your luck).."

Coins collection. See how people really turn their hobbies into business. A one dollar coin is selling for RM50!! And some of the coins I never see before..
When I saw this phone, it reminds me of my childhood! That's the phone in my house, where we have to turn sooo many rounds to make a phone call. Each digit we have to turn one round and imagine 6 digits last time..if emergency mampus (die) lar..!
This phone is still working..just plug in the connection line and it's ready to use!

Okay and I found another interesting item. The blue machine is actually a receipt machine! Hahhha..I thought it was a calculator. The aunty told me this is used by mini market owners when they wanna print out receipts for customers. Nowadays we have the electronic ones..
So that's my "antique trip" to Amcorp Mall. Maybe next time I can introduce other antique items to my readers. Have you seen an antique calculator?! LOL this is also an interesting item. Wait til I get back home and I'll take a photo of it. The using method is also very interesting..lolz!
p/s: A reader of mine, dSaint, commented that the piring hitam is not called a black disc. The suitable word for it is record! LOL..and da player is a gramaphone..Thanks ya! I dont know what its called until I read the comment. ;)
